Choosing a Domain Name - 3 Must Know Tips

The 3 essential elements to consider when choosing a domain, or website, name are:
1. Persons name
2. Brand or company name
3. Keyword search name
If you are registering your name, brand or companies' name, then you don't need to consider other keywords for selecting your domain name. People and companies generate traffic to their websites with target marketing, not through search engines, unless of course the actual person or brand name becomes a well known name that becomes searched.
If it's a well known name or common English word or phrase that is searched, then the chances are extremely high that the website name will already have been registered and will then be available for sale through a web broker. Because of this fact, we are going to focus on choosing a name using keywords.
1. Choose A Name That Is Memorable
The most obvious aim is to come up with a name that is memorable. This may sound like a difficult task, but if you think about your business, what it represents you may surprise yourself and come up with a unique idea that hasn't been registered.
2. Use Three Words Or Less
You want to keep in mind the length and number of words that you end up with. A golden rule is not to use more than three words.
3. Keep The Length Under 15 Characters
You will find that the less the number of characters that you use the better. This will help make it easier for people to remember who your business is. Less than 15 characters if preferred but keeping it to fewer than 15 characters will depend on the length of the actual keywords you are using.
Choosing a website name for your business is the first important step you take to building an online presence. By following the above tips you will set your business up for success on the internet.
